If your group is interested in the African American heritage of Washington , DC join us as we explore the black community from a historical perspective.
A drive to the historic community of Anacostia. Anacostia is in the community of Cedar hill the home of Fredrick Douglass. On to Capital hill ,we will visit the Mary McLeod Bethune statue in Lincoln Park.A journey through downtown to the site of the national headquarters of National Council of Negro Women, Benjamin Banneker Circle at L’Enfant Plaza,Freedom Plaza on Pennsylvania Avenue, the White House and the M.L.King memorial
As we progress uptown, we see the historic Metropolitan AME Church, the Mary McLeod Bethune Council house, in the Logan Circle historic district. We will visit Howard University , African American Civil War Memorial and historic U. Street.
